Refereely ("we") provides AI-generated, pre-submission feedback on manuscripts that you own. This policy explains what we collect and how we handle it.
Solely to generate and deliver your review and to operate your account (credits, history). We do not sell your data, and we do not use your manuscript to train any AI model.
To produce your review, your manuscript text is sent to third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic and OpenAI) through their APIs, used only to generate your review. These providers’ API terms state that inputs submitted via their APIs are not used to train their models.
Your uploaded manuscript file is deleted as soon as your review has been generated. Any abandoned or failed uploads are automatically purged within a short retention window. Your generated reviews remain in your account until you delete them or ask us to. To request deletion of your account or data, email [email protected].
We share data only with the providers needed to run the service (AI providers above; hosting, database and storage providers), and where required by law.
We use reasonable measures to protect your data, but no online service can be guaranteed 100% secure.

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date.
